Advanced Settings

Access to deeper configuration options that affect system behaviour, user experience, and hardware control. These options are designed for experienced users beyond typical settings. Adjusting some of these values may impact stability or device behaviour, so proceed carefully.

Visible Options

Menu Acceleration

Adjusts how quickly menu navigation accelerates when holding down directional buttons. Higher values make scrolling faster, while lower values provide more precise control.

Menu Repeat Delay

Determines how long a button must be held before it begins repeating its action. Increasing this delay can help prevent accidental repeated inputs when navigating menus.

Battery Offset

Applies a correction value to the displayed battery percentage. Useful for calibrating the battery indicator if readings are consistently higher or lower than expected.

Button Swap

Globally switches button layouts across the system. Ideal for users preferring alternate control schemes or region specific button arrangements.

Volume On Boot

Sets the default system volume level each time the device starts. Useful for ensuring consistent audio behaviour after reboots.

Brightness On Boot

Defines the display brightness applied automatically when the system starts. Adjust this to maintain a comfortable default viewing level on every boot.

Thermal Zone Control

Toggles automatic thermal protection that safely powers down the device when overheating. Disabling this is not recommended as it prevents the system from responding to high temperature warnings.

Passcode Lock

Enables a passcode requirement for device startup, launching content, or other features.

LED During Play

Toggles the device’s power LED visibility while launching or running content. Useful for reducing distractions during gameplay or conserving minor power.

RetroArch Network Wait

Delays RetroArch startup until a network connection is detected. Primarily used for features like RetroAchievements that require online access before launch.

RetroArch Config Freedom

Removes system enforced configuration restrictions on RetroArch. Allows advanced users to manually customise RetroArch behaviour, but may cause instability if misconfigured.

Device Rumble

Enables or disables vibration feedback for events such as startup, sleep, and shutdown. Enhances tactile feedback where supported by hardware.

User Init Scripts

Controls the execution of user defined startup scripts. When enabled, the system will run shell (.sh) scripts stored in the MUOS/init directory during boot.

DPAD Swap Function

Toggles the DPAD swap feature, allowing directional input remapping through a designated hotkey combination.

Audio Overdrive

Extends maximum system audio output from 100% to 200%, providing additional loudness when required. Use carefully, as excessive volume may cause speaker distortion or hardware strain.

Device Lid Switch

Enables automatic sleep functionality when closing or opening a physical lid switch, if supported by the device.

Display Suspend

Toggles the display suspend behaviour when the device enters sleep mode. Some display panels may not resume correctly if this setting is enabled, so use with caution.

System Swapfile

Configures the system’s swapfile usage, allowing limited expansion of virtual memory. Useful for memory intensive content or testing system performance under load.

Secondary Partition

Specifies which partition number the system should mount when accessing secondary storage. Typically used for advanced configurations or multi partitioned mSD cards.

External Partition

Sets the partition number used when mounting external USB storage devices. Adjust this if the system fails to detect or mount certain external drives correctly.

Brightness Increment

Defines how much the screen brightness changes per adjustment step. Smaller increments provide finer control, while larger ones allow quicker adjustments.

Volume Increment

Adjusts how much the volume level changes per input step. Ideal for tuning audio to your specific preference.

GPU Performance Mode

Push the onboard GPU to the maximum frequency at all times. Only on supported devices.

Audio Subsystem Wait

Toggle if the device will wait for the audio subsystem to initialise during boot. May increase boot time by a few extra seconds.
