Visible Options

Timeline Saves

Choose how often timeline saves are captured, how many are kept, when their timer resets, and whether progress is shown while you play.

Auto Save

When MustardOS quietly saves where you are for you. It can do so when you put the device down for a moment, when you quit, both, or never.

Save State History

How many past moments to hold in memory before loading a state. These entries let you step back if the wrong state was chosen and are cleared when the content closes.

Save State Trash

How many deleted states to keep on storage. Items can be restored from the Trash section of Game State until they are permanently removed.

SRAM Flush

How often the game's own save file, the one it writes when you save inside the game itself, is written out to storage while you play. Anywhere from every 15 seconds to every 5 minutes.

Content Pre-cache

Loads part of the game into memory up front so it does not have to keep reaching for the storage card while you play. Helps most with larger disc-based games on a slow card, at the cost of a little longer to start up.

Quick Tips

  • Tap MENU on any row for a short explanation of what it does, and hold MENU instead to slide the menu out of the way and watch the game behind it.

  • Saves are always written safely in the background, and these settings only decide how often.

  • The most recent background save can never be deleted from the Game State screen, so there is always at least one to fall back on.
