Macros

Multi-step button macros for this port, each one a named, ordered sequence of RetroPad buttons (plus optional Goto/Loop control steps) that can be bound to a single physical button. Pressing that button fires the whole sequence, which plays through to completion on its own - it does not matter whether the button is still held or released partway through.

Visible Options

Create Macro

Press Y to create a new macro (up to 32), naming it with the on-screen keyboard before jumping straight into its step editor.

Edit / Bind

Highlight a macro and press A to choose Edit, which opens its step editor, or Bind, which captures the next physical button you press on this port and assigns the macro to it.

Delete Macro

Highlight a macro and press X to delete it, with a confirmation prompt first. Any button it was bound to reverts to unbound.

Add / Remove Step

Inside a macro's editor, press Y to add a step (up to 32), then choose Button, Goto, or Loop. Button captures the next RetroPad button you press. Press X to remove the highlighted step.

Goto

Jumps back to an earlier row every single time it is reached, looping that stretch of the macro forever - regardless of the trigger button's state, so a Goto-containing macro only ends when the trigger button is pressed again (restarting it) or the port disconnects. Any steps listed after a Goto become unreachable, which is expected. Press L or R on the step to change which row it targets (only rows above it, never itself), or press A to type an exact row number. Needs at least one earlier step to exist first.

Loop

Like Goto, but counted - jumps back to its target row up to Count times, then falls through to the next step instead of jumping again. L/R on the step changes the target row the same way as Goto; press A to open a small editor for Target and Count (presets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 50, or an exact value up to 65535 via the on-screen keyboard).

Step Timing

Highlight a step and press A to open its Timing submenu, showing three rows: Wait, Hold, and Repeat. The step list itself shows a compact summary like W0ms-H96ms-R1.

Hold

How long the button stays down on each press. Press L or R to cycle through a fixed set of presets (48, 96, 192, 384, 768, 1536, 3072, 6144ms), or press A to type an exact value from 0 to 65535 milliseconds instead. New steps default to 96ms.

Repeat

How many times to press the button. Press L or R to cycle through a fixed set of presets (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 50), or press A to type an exact count from 1 to 65535 instead. New steps default to a Repeat of 1, a single ordinary press.

Wait

The gap between repeats only - never before the first press or after the last, so it only matters when Repeat is 2 or higher. Cycled or typed exactly the same way as Hold. Even with Wait set to 0ms, repeats always get at least one frame of release between them so they register as separate presses.

Quick Tips

  • A macro fires once per press and plays through on its own - releasing the trigger button early does not stop it. Without a Goto or Loop step it simply finishes and sits idle; add a Goto back to an earlier row (row 1, for example) to make part or all of it repeat indefinitely instead.

  • Deleting a step automatically re-points any Goto/Loop steps that referenced it, or rows after it, so existing jumps keep landing on the same logical row.

  • Binding a macro to a button is mutually exclusive with that button’s normal RetroPad target and turbo setting on the Button Mapping screen. Assigning one clears the other.

  • Backing out of a macro’s editor with unsaved changes offers the usual Save or Discard prompt before it lets you leave.
