Wi-Fi Profile

The Network Profile screen lets you add a new Wi-Fi network or edit one you have saved previously. Give it a Profile Name, enter the network's identifier and password (or press X to scan for nearby networks instead), then choose whether it should connect automatically or only when selected manually.

Setting the Network Type to DHCP configures addressing automatically, while Static reveals the Address, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS fields for manual configuration. Press Connect to save your changes and join the network, or press Y to forget a previously saved profile.

Visible Options

Profile Name

A friendly name used to identify this saved profile in the Wi-Fi Network list. Defaults to the network's identifier if left unchanged.

Network Name

The SSID, or name, of the wireless network you want to connect to. Press X to scan for nearby networks and fill this in automatically.

Password

The password, or security key, required to join the selected network. Leave blank for open networks that do not require authentication.

Network Type

Toggles between DHCP, which configures addressing automatically, and Static, which reveals the Address, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS fields below for manual configuration.

Priority

Sets this profile's position, from 1 to 9, in the automatic connection order whenever more than one Auto Connect profile is in range. Lower numbers are attempted first, and this has no effect on Manual profiles.

Device IP

The static IP address to assign to the device on this network. Only shown when Network Type is set to Static.

Subnet CIDR

The subnet mask, in CIDR notation, that defines the range of valid addresses on this network. Only shown when Network Type is set to Static.

Gateway IP

The address of the router used to reach external networks and the internet. Only shown when Network Type is set to Static.

DNS Server

The Domain Name System server used to resolve website and service names on this network, such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google). Only shown when Network Type is set to Static.

Join Wi-Fi

Saves this profile and attempts to connect, showing live progress such as Associating, Authenticating, or Waiting for IP. If this profile is already connected, pressing it again disconnects instead.

Internet Status

Appears beneath Join Wi-Fi or Leave Wi-Fi and reports Checking, Online, Sign-in Required, Timed Out, or Unavailable. Joining Wi-Fi confirms the local connection only.

Hidden Options

Scan for Networks

Press X to search for nearby Wi-Fi networks and fill in the Identifier field directly from the scan results.

Quick Tips

  • Press Y on a previously saved profile to forget it. This is unavailable while it is the currently connected profile, and for a profile that has not been saved yet.
