Customisation

Tailor the look, sound, and behaviour of the frontend. From changing themes and fonts to sound effects, these options let you personalise the user experience to your liking. Adjusting these settings affects only the interface and does not alter how content runs or performs.

Visible Options

Catalogue Sets

Load and apply user created artwork catalogues that customise how content images and metadata are displayed. These sets can change the overall visual presentation of your library.

RetroArch Configurations

Load custom RetroArch configuration files for finer control over emulator behaviour and performance. Ideal for users who maintain multiple setups or experimental settings.

Theme Picker

Change the appearance of the frontend by selecting from installed themes. You are also able to download themes directly on-device through this option.

Theme Resolution

Test themes designed for different resolutions or aspect ratios. Useful for validating theme compatibility on various devices or displays.

Alternative Theme

Switch between alternate versions of a theme, such as different colour palettes or layout variants.

Background Music

Toggles background music in the frontend interface. All music is .ogg and can be switched between Theme based or Global within the MUOS/music folder

Background Music Volume

Adjust the independent volume of the background music being played. Press A to set.

Black Fade Animation

Toggles the fade to black transition animation used when launching content. Disabling this can slightly speed up launch times.

Content Save State Launch

Choose between pressing A or holding A to automatically launch the most recent save state for the selected content.

Content Shuffle

Enables the ability to shuffle through content in the explorer using the R2 button. A fun way to discover random content in your library.

Content Box Art

Changes the display priority of content images, or determining whether box art is shown at all.

Content Box Art Alignment

Adjusts the position of content images on screen. Useful for theme designers or users wanting a specific layout alignment.

Content Launch Splash

Toggles the display of a splash image when launching content. Adds a stylish transition or can be disabled for slightly faster load times.

Content Grid Mode

Enables grid view mode in the Content Explorer. Display content in a visual grid instead of a list for a more graphical browsing experience.

Hide Grid Mode Box Art

Hides system box art images when grid mode is active. Useful for simplifying the interface or highlighting custom artwork.

Interface Font Type

Chooses how fonts are loaded in the frontend. Theme uses fonts included in the theme (with language fallback), while Language forces use of the language-specific font.

Navigation Sound

Toggles sound effects when navigating the frontend interface. Disabling this results in silent menu movement.

Startup Chime

Toggles the chime sound played during frontend startup. A small signal the frontend has finished loading.
